Nepal defeats Netherlands by 5 wickets; Aarif’s Half-century

Kathmandu: Nepal has defeated the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.

In the match held on Wednesday at Fort Hill in Dundee, Nepal won by 5 wickets. This marks Nepal’s second consecutive win in the ongoing series.

Chasing a target of 226 runs, Nepal achieved victory in 47.1 overs at the loss of 5 wickets. Arif Sheikh played a half-century innings for Nepal.

Arif scored 78 runs off 99 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes. He had earlier reached his half-century in 81 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. Dipendra Singh Airee on 38 and Gulshan Jha on 11 remained unbeaten.

Kushal Bhurtel scored 25, captain Rohit Kumar Paudel made 23, Asif Sheikh added 19, and Bhim Sharki contributed 11 runs. For the Netherlands, Michael Levitt took 2 wickets.

Earlier, having won the toss and opted to bat first, the Netherlands were all out for 225 runs in 49.1 overs.

Noah Croes top-scored for the Netherlands with 48 runs, while captain Scott Edwards added 46. From the beginning, Nepali bowlers dominated the Dutch batters.

Sompal Kami took the final wicket and ended with 3 wickets. Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Karan KC each took 2 wickets.

Now, Nepal will compete against Scotland in coming Sunday.
