Minister Dahal: Halting public transportation despite agreement is inappropriate

Kathmandu: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has said it is inappropriate to halt public transportation when an agreement has already been reached with the government.

Speaking at a meeting of the Infrastructure Development Committee under the House of Representatives held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Minister Dahal said that although there was an agreement to request the Gandaki Province government to suspend the ride-sharing regulation and to manage the issue through federal legislation afterward, it is not appropriate to halt transportation without implementing that agreement.

The Transport Minister said that transport entrepreneurs’ decision to halt services was wrong. He said ride-sharing is providing service to the public, and the government intends to bring it under regulation.

Minister Dahal also urged transport entrepreneurs to move forward responsibly while presenting their concerns to the government.
