According to the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Itahari, passengers have faced problems as public buses on both long and short routes have not been operating in all 14 districts of Koshi Province.

Itahari: Demanding the cancellation of the Gandaki Province Government’s ‘Ride Sharing’ regulation, which allows the use of private vehicles as rental vehicles, public transportation has been completely halted in Koshi Province since Monday morning.

In support of the joint movement, no small or large black-plate passenger vehicles have been operating in the Dharan and Itahari areas since early morning. Only a few tempos and two-wheelers are on the roads.

According to the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Itahari, passengers have faced problems as public buses on both long and short routes have not been operating in all 14 districts of Koshi Province.

Saroj Shrestha, the coordinator of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs in Koshi Province, said that even though repeated appeals have been made to the concerned authorities regarding the ‘Ride Sharing’ regulation, no action was taken, leaving them with no choice but to start the shutdown.
