Kathmandu: Transport entrepreneurs and workers have brought traffic to a halt on the Kathmandu Ring Road and the main roads of Bhaktapur, demanding the repeal of the transport regulations introduced by the Gandaki Province government that conflict with the federal act.

The “Chakka Jam” (a traffic blockade) has been enforced at the call of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE), Bagmati Province, on Saturday. The traffic blockade, which started at 11:30 AM, is said to last until 12:30 PM.

They have forced passengers to disembark from public vehicles such as tempos, taxis, buses, and trucks. This has caused particular difficulties for passengers traveling to hospitals and the airport.
