Kathmandu: The government has allocated a budget of Rs. 57.48 billion for the Ministry of Agriculture for the upcoming fiscal year 2025-26.
Out of the budget, Rs. 830 million has been earmarked to promote high-value crops. Similarly, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel informed that additional manpower will be deployed for testing pesticide residues in vegetables, and a budget has been allocated for that purpose.
At the moment, Finance Minister Poudel is presenting the budget at the joint session of the parliament. The government has adopted a policy to encourage the cultivation of ginger and turmeric in areas where there is a risk from wild animals such as monkeys and boars.
Likewise, Rs. 850 million has been allocated for the production of vaccines for livestock diseases. Furthermore, Rs. 2.3 billion has been allocated for crop and livestock insurance premiums.
