Kathmandu: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi has said senior citizens above 68 years would be provided with social security allowances from the coming fiscal year.

Responding to queries related to the Ministry in a meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Minister Sudi mentioned that an arrangement is going to be made to provide social security allowance to senior citizens above 68 years from the coming fiscal year.

On the occasion, he pointed out the need for effective implementation of one-door policy from the Social Welfare Council for the mobilisation of the assistance received through NGOs. Minister Sudi added that the number of organisations coming under the ambit of the Council is increasing after the Ministry wrote a letter to Nepal Rastra Bank requesting it to facilitate the mobilisation of funds only for projects that have received approval of the Council.

A total of 1,833 projects of 1,324 organizations have been approved till April 13 of the current fiscal year. The Minister Sudi said the House that people from Dalit community of Shambhunath municipality-3 in Saptari district including Magain Sada and Chandar Sada have not been able to get other facilities of the state including senior citizen allowance even at the age of 72 in lack of citizenship.

Earlier to this, Speaker Devraj Ghimire read out the letter designating work responsibility received from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
