Woman died in Makhantol fire identified

Kathmandu: The elderly woman who died in the fire that occurred in two houses behind the Suraj Arcade at Makhan Tol, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-24, has been identified.

District Police Range Kathmandu spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police, Apilraj Bohara said the identified woman is Bishnu Adhikari (80 years old) from Kavrepalanchok.

The fire broke out in Dayaram Shrestha’s mud and wood house due to the leakage of a cooking gas cylinder this morning also spread to the adjacent five-storey concrete house of Rukesh Shrestha.

The fire was completely brought under control by 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Superintendent of Police Bohara said that teams from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police were deployed to douse the fire, which lasted for about three hours.

The fire was controlled with the help of six fire trucks: 2 from the Juddha Fire Brigade, 1 from the Nepali Army, one from Lalitpur Metropolitan City, 1 from Ramhiti, and one from the Balaju Industrial Area.
