Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has visited Boudhanath for a religious observance on the 2,569th Buddha Jayanti.

This morning (Monday), upon reaching Boudhanath, President Paudel released doves symbolizing peace. Today, Buddha Jayanti is being celebrated across the country, including at Lumbini, Buddha’s birthplace, with various programs and worship rituals at Buddhist stupas, monasteries, and shrines.

At Swayambhunath, which is listed as a World Heritage Site, large crowds of Buddhist devotees and the general public have gathered since early morning. Special worship ceremonies are being held today at the Buddha Temple located within the Swayambhu Mahachaitya on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.

The government has also declared a public holiday.
