Civilians afraid after Pakistan airstrike hits residential area in Jammu

Kathmandu: Pakistan has launched an attack on the Rehari Colony area of Jammu city in India.

The BBC cited the locals as saying the attack, on Friday night, caused significant damage to many houses, and the windows of many vehicles were shattered. This is the first time a residential area in the heart of the city has been targeted.

Locals questioned, ‘Why is Pakistan attacking civilians?’ Rakesh Gupta said, ‘There was a massive explosion, and the entire area was filled with smoke. There was an atmosphere of fear and panic everywhere. Why is Pakistan attacking civilians?’ It has been reported that some people were injured in the attack and were admitted to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also visited the site, but he quickly left when fighter jets began flying overhead.

‘A siren for an air raid was sounded, and people were told to evacuate the area,’ a local told the BBC.
