Demands in parliament to stop India’s one-sided embankment in Mahakali River

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress Lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu has drawn the attention of the government to hold immediate dialogue to stop the unilateral construction of embankment on the Mahakali river, without coordinating with Nepal.

Lawmaker Badu drew the attention of the government regarding the embankment at the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Monday.

India is constructing an embankment unilaterally, even though it requires the consent of both nations while constructing any structures in border areas as per international law. India is rapidly constructing the structure. I would like to draw the attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Home Ministry, the Ministry of Land Management, and the Energy Ministry,’ said Lawmaker Badu.

Badu demanded to postpone the construction in the disputed border areas.
