NA Members urge to stop enrollment of students in KIIT

Kathmandu: National Assembly (NA) members have urged to stop the enrollment of Nepali students in Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Odisha. The members emphasized that the students should not be given a ‘No Objection Letter’ (NOC) for seeking enrollment in KIIT.

During the emergency meeting on Sunday, NA members drew the attention of the government to stop the NOC as students are not secure in KIIT, and the series of deaths of female students one after another indicates a lack of guarantees of students’ safety.  Rastriya Janamorcha lawmaker Tul Prasad Bishwakarma said the government should stop the process of NOC for the college.

CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Madan Kumari Shah, demanding to stop the NOC for the KIIT, urged the parents to be alert.

Likewise, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, Mohammad Khalid, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal, Shekhar Kumar Singh, and Nepali Congress, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya, demanded to investigate the death of a student in KIIT, and to take action against the culprit.

CPN (Maoist Centre) Ganga Kumari Belbase and CPN (UML) Sumitra BC are among those demanding an investigation into the incident and action to be taken against the culprit.

NA members stressed on stopping the need to stop the college after the second death of a Nepali student, Prisha Sah,  at KIIT in the past three months. Earlier, Prakriti Lamsal from Butwal was found dead in the hostel of the same campus. Now, Sah has been found dead.
