Government to make enrollment in Social Security Fund mandatory

Kathmandu: The government has decided to make enrollment in the Social Security Fund mandatory.

According to the policies and programs presented by the government in Parliament, contribution-based social security will be made compulsory for individuals engaged in all types of employment and services.

Reading out the government’s policies and programs on Friday, President Ram Chandra Paudel said, ‘Contribution-based social security will be made mandatory. The scope and role of the Social Security Fund will be expanded to ensure that individuals involved in any form of employment under any service conditions are mandatorily enrolled.’

The government also plans to introduce legal provisions requiring companies, institutions, cooperatives, firms, and other organized entities to submit proof of regular contributions to the Social Security Fund when renewing their registrations.
