Hearing regarding contempt of court against Gagan Thapa concludes

Kathmandu: A hearing of a case regarding the contempt of court against Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has concludes.

The hearing concluded under the joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Nityananda Pandey. The case was listed as the first item on the bench’s docket. Anantaraj Luintel filed the case against Thapa on Sunday.

During a discussion program held on Democracy Day last Thursday, Thapa made remarks where he stated that the Supreme Court is “dealing” and saying ‘let’s hit, let’s hit’.

A petition was filed seeking action against Thapa, arguing that his statement undermined the dignity and public trust in an independent judiciary.
