PM Oli accuses media of coordinated campaign over Education Minister’s resignation

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed strong dissatisfaction with what he called a “coordinated media campaign” regarding the resignation of Education Minister Vidya Bhattarai.

Addressing a program on Tuesday, PM Oli said the media had seemingly worked together to portray the resignation as a result of conflict between him and the minister.

‘The Education Minister couldn’t continue due to health reasons. But headlines everywhere suggest I forced her out. It’s as if all the media sat together to write the same thing, or coordinated over the phone,’ he remarked.

PM Oli clarified that Bhattarai had stepped down purely due to health concerns. ‘She was working, I assigned her responsibilities, and she was learning. But due to health reasons, she couldn’t continue. Still, they wrote news against me,’ said the Prime Minister.

Visibly frustrated, PM Oli also addressed critics who suggested that it was he — not the minister — who should have resigned.

‘Some so-called new voices say the Prime Minister should have resigned instead of the Minister. If you want my resignation, wait 15 more months,’ said PM Oli.
