Person arrested for making fake document for deforestation

Kathmandu: A person has been arrested on the charge of his involvement in deforestation by making a fake document of Panchulli Chaitepatal community forest committee in the district.

Chief of Division Forest Office, Achham, Janak Padhya said  the arrested one is Chhatra Raj Timalsena, who is also the secretary of a local forest users’ committee. Timalsena found making fake document and taking permission from the Forest Office to cut down and sell chotro, a tree with medicinal value.

He has been kept at the District Police Office based on the letter of the Division Forest Office and investigation into the case was forwarded. Total 4,000 kg of chotro (stalk, leaves and bark) was collected from community forest.

Further investigation was underway to ascertain involvement of other persons in acquiring permission to sell forest product, preparing fake document.
