Absconding Durga Prasai apologizes to police through video message

Kathmandu: Absconding Medical Businessman Durga Prasai has apologized to the police.

Issuing a video message on Sunday, Prasai, the commander of the pro-monarchy movement, sought forgiveness from the police and apologized. After Friday’s pro-monarchy protest turned violent, Prasai had been hiding.

Prasai said that he broke through the police barricade because he felt unsafe. He mentioned that a bullet passed close to his ear while he was on stage, which made him believe that his life was in danger, leading him to drive away through the police barrier for his safety.

‘A bullet passed right next to my ear while I was on stage. I thought they were trying to kill me, so I drove, breaking the police barricade. I apologize for any harm caused to the police. I did not break through the barricade to hurt them; I did it to protect myself,’ he said.
