Pradip Pariyar appointed as member of World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Leadership

Kathmandu: Pradip Pariyar, founder and chair – Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance, has been appointed as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Leadership.

Dalit Lives Matter believes his appointment will strengthen the global movement for social justice and an equitable society. Pariyar’s participation as a council member for a two-year term from 2025 to 2026 will broaden the dialogue on the caste system, caste-based discrimination, exclusion, and marginalization, and contribute to building solution-oriented narratives.

Pariyar brings a wealth of experience working for over 20 years in national and international policymaking related to youth, peacebuilding, and social justice. The World Economic Forum previously honored him as one of the Young Global Leaders in its class of 2020.

The World Economic Forum Network of Global Future Councils (GFCs) stands as the foremost global multistakeholder and interdisciplinary knowledge network. Its purpose is to generate insights into both cutting-edge subjects and established systems, exploring how these topics impact global challenges.

The network convenes experts from academia, business, government, civil society and international organizations, operating as a time-bound think-tank to identify and disseminate transformative ideas with the potential for positive global impact.

There are 36 different expertise-based thematic councils. These councils have around seven hundred experts representing academia, business, government, civil society, and international organizations.

The Network of Global Future Councils operates on three fundamental principles: 

• Interdisciplinary collaboration and systems approach: Promoting cross-disciplinary teamwork and the constructive exchange of ideas and knowledge to bridge established and emerging issues
• Fresh ideas and innovative thinking: Identifying and examining emerging topics, issues, and technologies that are expected to significantly influence the world
• Expertise and evidence: Providing a foundation for data-, evidence-, fact- and research-based public-private cooperation.
  Dalit Lives Matter is a social movement that aims to promote social justice by ending caste-based discrimination.

The movement is committed to building global resistance by fostering collaborations with ideas and efforts striving for justice, equity, inclusion, and sustainable development around the world.

In the context, the appointment of social activist Pariyar to the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Leadership is a milestone for the movement – Dalit Lives Matter.
