People living in urban areas, including in Kathmandu Valley, will be amazed at the price of groceries in various municipalities for sure. Many daily grocery items can be purchased at almost halved prices than in urban areas.

In Mithila Bihari Municipality-2, there is also a practice of running a local market (Haat Bazaar). People love visiting Haat Bazaar to buy daily groceries at reasonable price. Such markets are run three days a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

According to the local vendors, the municipality itself operates this market to facilitate the easy distribution of local products to local consumers.

At the market, the grocery items are priced at a very low price. People can buy Cauliflower at 10 rupees per kg, Green Mustard at Rs 50 per kg, Fish at Rs 200 per kg, Mutton (cut into portions) at Rs.700 per kg, and Broiler chicken meat at Rs 250 per kg.
