Kathmandu: The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination campaign against cervical cancer has begun, starting from Tuesday.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the campaign in Baluwatar-based Shivapuri Higher Secondary School and handed vaccination materials to health workers on Tuesday.

Around 1.7 million female students, from grades 6 to 10, will receive the HPV vaccine across the nation. Girls aged between 10 and 14 years will also receive the vaccine outside the school.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,688,900 girls will be targeted in the vaccination campaign.
