Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said martyrs are a source of inspiration for us to work for bringing transformations in the country.
In his address to the main celebration of the National Martyrs’ Day, 2081 BS organized by the government on the Singha Durbar premises on Wednesday, PM Oli said contributions of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the abolition of Rana rule and for the establishment of democracy at different times are of a significant value.
‘Federal democratic republic was achieved due to sacrifices and inspiration of our martyrs’ said PM Oli. ‘In this system, sovereign citizens are the source of ultimate power’ said PM Oli.
He said that the government is effortful to further strengthen this system, and urged the people’s representatives to deliver with the same spirit for total democracy. He utilized the time to claim that the incumbent government is advancing towards the goal for prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali.
‘We have fought long and hard to establish democracy’ said PM Oli. ‘However, democracy does not mean anarchy, it is an advanced, civilized system of governance. While there are democratic processes for revising or changing leadership, any actions that threaten the unity of the country or hinder its development will not be tolerated.’ said PM Oli.
‘The government is committed to taking a lead for nation’s sovereignty, development and good governance and we are firm to follow the course set by our martyrs’ said PM Oli.
Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, House of Representatives (HoR) Deputy Speaker, the chief advisor to the Prime Minister, the government Chief Secretary, the Chief of Army Staff, government secretaries and distinguished personalities were preset on the occasion.
PM Oli visited the Lainchaur-based Martyrs’ Memorial and Martyr’s Gate in Sundhara to pay homage to the martyrs.
