Kathmandu: Almost 40 per cent of the work of the electricity substation has been constructed in the Marchwar area of Rupandehi has been completed.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) said that the power supply in the area will improve permanently after the construction of the Mahadei Substation at Marchwar, which is being constructed targeting the three municipalities.
According to NEA engineer Jagadish Raj Baral, 35 per cent of the civil structure and 40 per cent of the electrification work of Mahdei substation have been completed. The remaining works of the project are progressing at a rapid pace to meet the target of completing it within a year.
Baral said that the agreement was signed with the construction company last February. ‘We are planning to complete the project within the next one year and bring the substation into operation,’ said Baral.
He said the construction work has been delayed due to lack of soil testing, paperwork and various materials at the site, adding that most of the materials required for the construction of the substation have been managed.
Planning Manager at the construction company, Mukul Singh said that the project could not be completed on time due to delay in the design of the project. He said after receiving the design, a team of 40 people has completed the installation of 850 electric poles so far.
The NEA has stepped up routine monitoring of the substation construction works so as to ensure reforms in power supply.
