Collection of information on earthquake impact underway in Solukhumbu

Kathmandu: The government agencies in Solukhumbu district have been mobilized for collecting information on impact of the earthquake in the district.

The quake measuring 7.0 in Richter scale had its epi centre at Dinggye County of Tibet, China. It also jolted Nepal’s eastern districts including federal capital, Kathmandu, on Tuesday morning.

Chief District Officer in Solukhumbu, Anoj Kumar Ghimire said, ‘Exact details on damages caused by the tremor are yet to be collected. We’ve mobilized our teams including security agencies in the field for collecting information.’ said Ghimire.’

He further shared that they would coordinate with local-level representatives to collect information about quake damages. The Khumbu region, bordering Dinggye County of Tibet, might have recorded damages by the tremor,  Chairperson of ward no 4 at Khumbu Pasanglhamu rural municipality, Laxman Adhikari, also informed that Lobuchhe area could have faced damages.

‘Our team has been mobilized for Lobuche area. As the telephone contact is not reliable, onsite inspection is essential. It will take some hours to reach Lobuche,’ said Adhikari.

Similarly, the local authorities in Sankhuwasabha, Panchthar and Taplejung districts informed that there was they were reported of earthquake damage so far. However, they have launched inspection to take stock of the post-quake situation.
