Lumbini Lions’ journey ceases in league stage of NPL

Kathmandu: Lumbini Lions’s journey has come to an end in the Nepal Premiere League. Lumbini Lions lost its sixth match against Kathmandu Gurkhas by 18 runs at T.U International Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

With this, Lumbini has become the first team to get out of the playoff race. Now, Lumbini will play its last match against Karnali Yaks on Friday.

Kathmandu Gurkhas registered their 2nd victory in the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

Lumbini Lions failed to chase the target of 104 runs. The team was packed in 19.2 overs and scored 85 runs.

Sundeep Jora scored 26 runs for the Lumbini Lions. Unmukt Chand contributed 14 runs, and Surya Tamang was unbeaten at 11 runs.

Captian Karan KC took 4 wickets for Kathmandu Gurkhas. Dipesh Kandel took 3 wickets, Gerhard Erasmus took 2 wickets and Rashid Khan took 1 wicket for the team.

In the first innings,  Kathmandu Gurkhas won the toss and decided to bat first. The team was packed up in 19.2 overs and scored 103 runs.

Bhim Sharki scored 31 runs for the team. Dan Douthwaite contributed 21, Pratik Shrestha 20, and Stephen Eskinazi scored 13 runs for Kathmandu Gurkhas. The rest of the players failed to secure a two-digit score.

Saad Bin Zafar took 3 wickets for the Lumbini Lions. Abhishesh Gautam and Ramon Simmonds took 2 wickets each.  And Surya Tamang and Bibek Yadav took 1 wicket each for the team.

Now, Pokhara Avengers will face Biratnagar Kinsg and Janakpur Bolts will face Kathmandu Gurkhas on Thursday.
