NPL: Janakpur defeats Biratnagar by 8 wickets

Kathmandu: Janakpur Bolts defeated Biratnagar Kings by 8 wickets in the inaugural match of the Nepal Premiere League (NPL).

Janakpur chased the target of 128 runs in 15.3 overs with the loss of  2 wickets at T.U. International Stadium, Kritipur.

Lahiniru Milantha was unbeaten in 75 runs. He contributed 9 boundaries and 3 sixes out of 53 balls. Milantha also bagged the ‘player of the match.’

Harsh Thakher was unbeaten in 29 runs. He scored 2 boundaries out of 33 balls. Chris Sole and Pratis GC took 1 wicket each for Biratnagar.

Janakpur won the toss and decided to bowl first. Biratnagar was packed up in 19 overs and scored 127 runs.

Martin Guptill scored 55 runs and Aqib Ilyas scored 15 runs for the team. The rest of the players failed to reach a double-digit score.

Lalit Rajbanshi took 3 wickets. Kishore Mahato and Harsh Takher took 2 and Ben Mike and Mohammad Mohsin took 1 wicket each for Janakpur.

Now, Kathmandu Gurkhas and Chitwan Rhinos will compete in the second match of the tournament on Monday.

Janakpur Bolts and Karnali Yaks will compete in the third match on the same day. The first match will kick off at 9:15 a.m. and the second match at 1:15 p.m.
