Kathmandu: Today is the 4th Yampanchaka which is ‘Gai Tihar’ (Cow Tihar).

Hindu devotees celebrate Gai Tihar by worshiping cow on Saturday. A cow is considered a mother in the Hindu religion. It is believed that a person gets the love of a mother from a cow. Cow not only provides milk to humans but its dung and urine are also used as purifying elements during various rituals.

In the evening children and adults sing and play Deusi and Bhailo in their community. This adds a different flavor to the celebration of Tihar.
