Flooding causes damage worth more than 800 million rupees in Madhesh province

The Madhesh province government has released 80 million rupees for the repair and maintenance of the structures damaged due to the flooding.

Flooding causes damage worth more than 800 million rupees in Madhesh province

Kathmandu: The recent flooding in Madhes province has caused damages worth more than 804 million and 500 thousand rupees.

Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Irrigation and Water Supply of Madhesh province government, Zakki Ahamad Ansari said that the largest damage is in Rautahat district due to the flooding caused by the swollen Bagmati, Lal Bakaiya, Jhajh, Lamaha and Gujara rivers in the district. Rautahat district has suffered damages of more than 195 million rupees.

Similarly, Saptari district suffered losses of 128 million rupees due to the flooding caused by the Balan, Triyuga, and Mahuli, among other rivulets in the district while the damages in Dhanusha by the flooded Ratu, Charnath, Kamala, Jallad, Aurahi, Khahare and Badahari rivulets amounted to 95 million rupees.

Likewise, the flooding caused by the swollen Bagmati, Lakhanehi, among the rivulets in Sarlahi district resulted in damages worth 92.5 million rupees. The damage due to the flooding in Bara is 85 million rupees, 79 million rupees in Siraha, 75 million rupees in Mahottari, and more than 55 million rupees in Parsa.

The Madhesh province government has released 80 million rupees for the repair and maintenance of the structures damaged due to the flooding.
