‘Anida Raat’-Staging in rural areas of Jajarkot and Rukum West (Photo Feature)

Anida Raat aims to raise the issues being faced by the earthquake victims in the areas of the Jajrkot and Rukum West. It attempts to create a balance between the victims and local-level government regarding the reconstruction of houses and infrastructures.

Kathmandu: Shilpee Theatre will be staging the play ‘Anida Raat’ under the Shilpee Natya Yatra (Journey of Drama)-2081. The drama will be staged from 6 September (Bhadra 21) till 3 October (Asoj 17).

The play directed and prepared by Pavitra Khadka will be staged at different 26 locations in Jajarkot and Rukum West; which was badly affected by the earthquake in 2080. The play aims to raise awareness among local audiences.

According to director Yuvraj Ghimire, the main purpose of the Natya Yatra let art, culture, and drama reach the rural level. The drama ‘Anida Raat’ presents various dimensions of rural society, human struggle, social inequality, and mental conflict of life of individuals.

The Shilpee Theatre is expected to make local issues more effective among local audiences with a different concept of staging the drama. The Theatre named the staging concept for the drama ‘Mukta Rangamanch.’

The staging of the drama is an abstract concept. The staging is neither based on the concept of the street drama nor a complete in-door drama. The Theatre has made special arrangements to use music, light, and props during the staging.

The drama aims to raise the issues being faced by the earthquake victims in the areas of the Jajrkot and Rukum West. It attempts to create a balance between the victims and local-level government regarding the reconstruction of houses and infrastructures.

Jyoti Pokharel, Rabin Pariyar, Govinda Oli, Sushil Bishwakarma, Anup Timilsina, Puja Bishwakarma, Dhanraj Sunar, Sumit Bhandari and Bhumika Pariyar are the actors of the drama.

Director Khadka said that rural communities will experience a special theatrical ambiance, as the shows will be staged at various locations of Jajarkot and Rukum West; under the Shilpee Natya Yatra. Khadka said all the people of the areas will feel a special connection with the drama as the plot, setting, and characters have been designed to target the local people of those places.
