Kathmandu: Hindus are celebrating ‘Father’s Day’ (Buwa ko Mukh Herne Din) across the nation.

Kushe Aunsi is celebrated on Bhadra Krishna Aunsi. There is a ritual of children worshipping their father and praying for their long life. They offer special foods and gifts to their father. Children, whose fathers have died, visit pilgrimages to do Shraddha, Pinda Daan, or Jal Daan for their late fathers.

On the same occasion, there is a ritual of people visiting Gokarneshwor Temple to do Shraddha, Pinda Dan, and Jal Dan. Hence, Kushe Aunsi is also known as the ‘Gokarna Aunsi.’ Hindus also take Kush, which is used for holy activities in Hindu culture, to their homes on this day.

There is a religious belief that there would be wellness in the family by placing Kush in the house. Hindus take Kush, Peepal, and Shaligram as the symbols of Lord Visnu.
