President Paudel receives ‘Rakshabandhan’

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has received the Nawayagyopavit Janai and Rakshabandhan as per the Vedic rituals on the occasion of the Rakshabandhan and Janai Purnima.

The Nawayagyopavit or janai is a consecrated thread that is worn around the torso by Hindu men who have undergone the coming-of-age rites while the Rakshabandhan is the sanctified thread worn around the wrist as a mark of protection from harm.

According to the Office of the President, President Poudel received the ‘yagyopavit’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ from priest Arjun Neupane at the auspicious time by Vedic rituals on Monday, even First Lady Sabita Paudel also received the ‘Raksha Bandhan’ from Neupane on the occasion. The President’s close relatives also received the ‘rakshabandhan’ at the President’s House, Shital Niwas.
