Preparation afoot to pass Transitional Justice Bill today

Kathmandu: The House of Representatives (HoR) has made necessary preparations to endorse the transitional bill today itself.

Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Kumar Chaurasia presented a proposal in the meeting seeking the endorsement of the Commission for Investigation of Forced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081 B.S.

As per the schedule, Law Minister Chaurasia will present a proposal for discussion on the Commission for Investigation of Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment) Bill, 2079 BS along with the report of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee.

President of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee Bimala Subedi presented the committee’s report on the Commission for Investigation of Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081 BS in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday. The House of Representatives had sent the bill to the committee for discussion.

The bill was passed unanimously in a meeting of the committee held on August 8. A three-member task force comprising leaders of major political parties had reached a consensus on some points of the bill which remained thorny in the parliamentary committee.
