Kathmandu: CPN (UML) Parliamentary Party Leader Lila Giri has resigned from the designation of party’s leader.
Giri resigned from his designation claiming the appointment of the Chief Minister was against the rules and regulations of the party as the party leader was bypassed during the appointment process.
He said that there was no response despite the resignation letter being sent to the party’s Chairperson KP Sharma Oli.
Giri reached the mood of giving his resignation after Chairperson Oli took his complaint lightly and assured him of correcting it next time. It has been said that Giri resigned after the decision regarding the CM appointment procedure went out of the parliamentary procedure and law. He accused the appointment of the CM of being upon the desire of a single leader.
Likewise, Giri was angry after Chief Minister by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel used his power to appoint Vice Leader Chetan Narayan Acharya as the Chief Minister. Giri became upset after Acharya was moved forward all of a sudden when Giri was preparing to submit his claim for Chief Minister.
He even didn’t attend Chief Minister Acharya’s oath-taking ceremony. CPN(UML) has been appointing the Chief Minister following the parliamentary tradition. However, the tradition has been broken in Lumbini now.
