Kathmandu: Former U.S. President Donald Trump, also the leading Republican presidential contender, has returned to his home in New Jersey after he was injured in an attempted assassination at a rally on Saturday.
The BBC cited Trump as saying he was shot in the ear, describing a “whizzing sound” and feeling a “bullet ripping through the skin.” Trump appeared bloodied face after the attack. He dropped to the ground before standing up again and raising his fist to the crowd.
The Secret Service shot and killed the male gunman. The FBI said that it identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the “subject involved” in the attempted assassination of former President Trump.
President Joe Biden condemned the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, calling on all Americans to denounce such “sick” violence.
Trump was speaking at an event in Pennsylvania when he was shot. This sparked panic in the crowd as Secret Service agents swarmed the former president.
