“An Enigma”-Compelling portrayal of struggles faced by marginalized voices

Kathmandu: “An Enigma” is a compelling portrayal of the struggles faced by marginalized voices in our society. The drama delves into the harsh reality where dreaming is forbidden, compelling dreamers to either silence themselves or navigate a desolate wasteland.

It reflects the uncertain lives of those who, despite holding citizenship, remain unsure of their place in the country. Sadbhawa Theatre has presented the drama “An Enigma.” The drama has been written and directed by Ram K.A.C. The drama features the talented Kiran Chapagain.

The following concept of the drama and a message from the director, Ram K.A.C, provide further insight into the thematic essence and the creative journey of the production.

Concept of the drama “An Enigma”: In this country, the rulers may deem the voices of the marginalized as impolite, yet this is our harsh reality. Dreaming is forbidden here, forcing dreamers to choose between donning a crown of silence or embarking on a path through a desolate wasteland. For non-citizens who possess citizenship but remain uncertain about their place in this country, their lives, and their future, the drama “An Enigma” perfectly reflects their predicament.

Message From the Director: Listening and creating are two entirely different endeavors. We portray the stories that have been seen, heard, and read on stage. There is undoubtedly a challenge in transforming distorted noises into harmonious music. Experiencing both comfort and discomfort while working is common, and it is the discomfort that sharpens our willpower, pricks our consciousness, and gives rise to the “Voices”.

One might wonder how powerful these voices will be, but that is another story. We can only hope that the sorrowful, profound voices reach the ears that need to be heard, touch the hearts that need to understand and influence the decision-makers to lead in the right direction.

But is this possible? Here arises an unanswered question. Do those in positions of power, sitting comfortably even in a warzone, truly listen? Do they have hearts that can understand the music of our struggles? How can we know? These are the questions that remain unanswered. Are these questions yours, ours? This drama, “An Enigma,” seeks to address this quest for answers.

The staging of the drama “An Enigma” begins on the 1st of Shrawan at the Rastriya Nachghar. The drama will be staged every day at 5:30 p.m. There is an additional show on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The last show of the drama is on the 7th of Shrawan.
