Kathmandu: The two major parties of the parliament, CPN (UML) and Nepali Congress (NC) have agreed on making a government with national consensus.
After a long homework, the top leaders of the parties, K.P. Sharma Oli and Sher Bahadur Deuba, signed an agreement on Monday night. The top leaders agreed upon making the government with national consensus along with the agenda of constitution amendment.
According to an NC Leader, CPN (UML) Chairperson Oli will be the Prime Minister in the first phase of the agreement. Then, NC President Deuba will lead the government in the second phase.
The agreement also divided the ministries between the parties. CPN (UML) will take 9 ministries, ‘including the Finance Ministry, and 10 ministries to NC, including the Home Ministry. The government even agreed with the division of the ministries at the provincial government level.
The agreement also touches on the agenda of forming an Advisor Commission for the constitutional amendment and election procedures.
With the agreement, CPN (UML) is preparing to withdraw its support from the government and make its ministers resign. There is the possibility that the CPN (UML) Ministers to submit their resignation on Tuesday.
