‘Agnichakshu’ at Shilpee (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: The staging of the drama ‘ Agnichakshu’, based on the Living Goddess Kumari, is going on at Shilpee Theatre, Battisputali.

The drama ‘Agnichakshu’ revolves around various stories connected with Goddess Kumari. The drama is based on Manjulani’s Veeranga story of protecting Nepal Mandala.

It also touches on the story of Kantipur’s Last Malla King playing “Pachisi” (Pasa) with Taleju Bhawani.

The drama also reflects on how women of all ages should be treated. It shows the hypocritical nature of people in Nepali society.

The drama shows male chauvinistic behavior and how people are lagging behind the respect for women in Nepali society. It expresses the nature of women to hide their pain and mask the smiles on their faces for the sake of others.

Manju Shrestha, Sangita Uranw, Hena Nagarkoti, Krishna Bhakta Maharjan, Sabin Kattel, Shreeshesh Shrestha, Dhiraj Thapa Magar, Shanta Prajapati, Rajendra Dangol and Erica Chaulagain are actors in the drama; directed by Jhaken BC.

Likewise, Anup Timilsina composed the music for the play’ Agnichachu’written by Chandra Prasad Pandey. Jhaken BC has taken responsibility for lightning and  Niraja Dotel and Himal Bhujel have taken responsibility for stage construction, whereas JD Tamu choreographed the play.

The drama featuring a silent act will be staged every day at 5:30 p.m. except Tuesday. There is also an additional show on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

The staging of the drama began on May 29 (Jestha 16, 2081).
