Kathmandu: An excavator driver has been killed in a landslide near the three-number bridge at Ichchhakamana rural municipality-5 along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section in Chitwan.
According to the District Police Office, Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bheshraj Rijal, The deceased has been identified as Mangal Chaudhary, approximately in his late 30s. He was struck by a landslide that occurred unexpectedly as the road widening work (cutting a cliff) was going on. Chaudhary was a resident of Geduwa rural municipality-4 in Bardiya, and the landslide buried him along with the vehicle (Ba 2 Kha 8651).
Chaudhary was rescued and rushed to the Old Medical College in Chitwan, But, died in the course of the treatment. The vehicle was completely damaged in the incident while a truck (Na 6 Kha 1511) en route to Narayangadh from Muglin was also damaged.
However, the vehicular movement along the area remained continued and works are in progress to clear off the landslide debris.
