Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) has said the formation of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee is the bottom line of the party.

The NC meeting of the officials, held in the residence of President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday, decided to continue with the previous demand of the party.

NC also decided to obstruct the joint session of the federal parliament for presenting the policy and programs in case of not forming the inquiry committee. NC Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said that was not the intention of the party.

‘The Party, which intends not to obstruct even the simple parliamentary process, what will be the intention of the party when the President is presenting the policy and program of the government,’ said Mahat, ‘But the way the government is presenting itself, it seems like the government itself is attempting to obstruct. So, it is not our intention, but the government is willing to obstruct.’

Spokesperson Mahat said the government is not also willing to conduct discussions regarding the budget. The party suspected the approach of the government and sensed an anarchism.

NC has been obstructing the house sessions demanding the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee to investigate the involvement of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in the cooperative embezzlement scandal.
