Minister Lamichhane directs to take action against Mahara

Kathmandu: Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has directed Nepal Police to take action against CPN (Maoist Centre) Vice-Chairperson and former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

Minister Lamichhane gave the directions after the High-Level Inquiry Commission, formed to investigate the gold smuggling scandal, found Mahara guilty. Earlier, the Commission also took a statement with Mahara.

Lamichhane called Inspector General (IG) Basanta Bahadur Kunwar and CIB Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG ) Shyamlal Gyawali to the ministry.

The involvement of Mahara and his son Rahul, along with the officials of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), has been detected in the 60-kg Gold smuggling scandal.

Lamichhane even directed to take action against the culprits involved in the land embezzlement case of the Bansbasri Leather and Shoe Factory. He gave directions to take the statement of the involved in the case. CIB is also taking the statement of the businessman and Member of Parliament Binod Chaudhary.
