Celebration of Mahashivratri in Pashupatinath (Photo feature)

Kathmandu: There has been a huge crowd of devotees in Pashupatinath premises, on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

Pashupatinath premises and the Bagmati bank were crowded with devotees on Thursday night, along with Saints from different regions including India.  According to the Pashuapti Area Development Trust( PADT), the 4 gates of Pashupatinath have been opened at 2:00 a.m.

Likewise, Saints and Pilgrims from India also come to Pashupatinath, on the occasion of Mahashivratri. It is assumed that around 2 million (20 lakh) devotees will be paying homage to the Lord Shiva during this year’s Mahashivratri.

However, consuming marijuana, alcohol, and meat completely prohibited on Pashupati premises.  Ambulances and 100s of volunteers have been deployed for the service of devotees. More than 4000 security personnel were deployed on Thursday.  Similarly, the installation of 70 health camps for emergency health services.
