Heroic performance of Dev and Akash leads Nepal into Super 6

Kathmandu: The national team of Nepal has entered the Super 6 stage in the ICC U-19 World Cup. 

The heroic performance of Captain Dev Khanal and Aakash Chand helped Nepal defeat Afghanistan by 1 wicket in Buffalo Park, South Africa. 

With this, Nepal finished third in the Group D tussle. Now, Nepal will compete against Bangladesh in the Super 6 stage. Bangladesh reached Super 6 by remaining in second place in Group A. 

Nepal chased the target of 146 runs with still 33 balls remaining by losing 9 wickets. The game became interesting after Nepal started losing the wickets while reaching near the target, continuously. 

Captain Dev Khanal contributed 58 runs for the team. But, he formed the foundation for the victory of Nepal. Khanal smashed 7 boundaries out of the 89 balls. 

Nepal was in a critical situation after losing the first three wickets, but Khanal created an optimistic environment for the team. Deepak Bohora supported Khanal in making runs. Bohora scored 27 runs for the team. 

Akash Tripathi scored 16, Arjun Kumal 10, Deepak Dumber 5, Dipesh Kandel 4, Bipin Rawal 2, and Gulsan Jha 1 run before going back to the pavilion. 

Subash Bhandari scored a boundary to add a winning run for Nepal. He was unbeaten in 9 runs. 

In the first innings, Nepal succeeded in packing Afghanistan in 40.1 overs. Afghanistan was all out in 145 runs. Aakash Chand took 5 wickets for Nepal. Dipesh Kandel took 2, and Tilak Bhandari, Subash Bhandari, and Gulsan Jhan took 1 wicket each.
