Police arrest 5 people, including municipal police and Govt. officials, in gang rape of 14-year-old girl

Surkhet: A 14 years old girl has been a victim of a gang rape.  The incident occurred in Mugu.

It has been revealed that municipal city police and government officials are also involved in the gang rape. The gang raped the girl 4 months ago. But the incident has become public now.

Police arrested 5 people involved in the incident, whereas others are absconding. According to police, 9 people including the policemen raped the minor girl, who is currently residing in Gamgarhi Bazar and hails from Chhayanath Rara Rural Municipality -14.

Likewise, Police arrested municipal city police Basanta Bahadur Karki (30 years old) of Karkiwada, Chhayanath Rara Rural Municipality -5, Basanta Rokaya (22) working assistant in the agricultural development office, of Soru Rural Municipality -8 and the rest are the 3 boys under the age of 18.

DSP Birendra Bahadur Thapa said that the accused Padam Bahadur Kathayat, the agriculture development office’s driver, and the other 3 under-18 age were absconding.

The girl is pregnant. The victim’s complaint, on 27 October 2023 (Kartik 10,2080), states that municipal city police Basanta Bahadur Karki came to the victim’s rented house and called her outside asking for some work. Then, he grabbed her hand and took her to the building of the Agriculture Development Office.

The municipal city police Karki, Basanta Rokaya, Padam Bahadur Kathayat lured her to rape her. The victim filed 2 cases of being ganged raped 2 times. She mentioned another incident of being raped by  6 under-18 boys.

The incident of gang rape came out after the victim went to the local health institution after complaining of abdominal pain and was diagnosed as being 18 weeks pregnant.
