Kathmandu: A mess has occurred regarding the candidacy of the National Assembly election in the ruling coalition. The dissatisfaction of the Janamat Party in the candidate’s selection procedure created a mess in the coalition.
The meeting of the coalition, on Sunday, made the mess public. Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party, Loktantra Samajwadi Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, and Janamorcha held a joint appeal to make their candidates win. However, the appeal has no signature of Janamat Party Chairperson C.K. Raut. Chairperson Raut said that he was not informed about the meeting. Janamat put forward different candidates for the election from Madhesh and Lumbini provinces.
Coalition appeals for victory of their candidates in National Assembly election
Similarly, Former Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha signed the joint appeal representing the Nagarik Unmukti Party. The first convention of the Unmukti had elected Resham Chaudhary as the party’s Chairperson. Resham became the Chairperson on Friday but former Chairperson Ranjita represented the Chairperson in the joint appeal.
This has made the leadership of the Unmukti controversial. The 7-party coalition issued their joint appeal to make their 19 candidates win in the National Assembly election on January 25, 2024.
