Sarlahi District Court orders to keep Bamjan in custody for investigation

Kathmandu: The Sarlahi District Court has ordered to keep Ram Bahadur Bamjan in custody for further investigation in his case.

The single bench of Judge Bishnu Prasad Regmi gave the order to keep Bamjan in custody. Judge Regmi gave the verdict after hearing the discussion of 7 lawyers. 5 lawyers debated from the side of Bamjan and 2 lawyers debated from the side of the government.

There were charges of rape and child sexual abuse against Bamjan in Sarlahi District Court. The statement of Bamjan was taken to the Office of the Public Prosecutor before being presented to him in court.

Bamjan was taken to Sarlahi by the road on Wednesday. The rape victim was staying in the Ashram of Bamjan in Sindhupalchowk. She claimed of being raped on August 4, 2016 (20th Shrawan, 2073).

The Police completed their investigation into the case and took him to Sarlahi. Bamjan can file another case against the verdict from inside the prison.

The team of CIB arrested Bamjan from his residence in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday evening. The Sarlahi District Court issued an arrest warrant against Bamjan on 21st Asar 2077 (July 5, 2020).
