Minister Gurung emphasizes bold and impartial investigation into corruption

Kathmandu: Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung has emphasized taking bold and impartial investigations into cases of corruption.

Minister Gurung in a press conference organized by Nepal Press Union, Syangja said,  that pressure had been stringent in an investigation of corruption cases stating the involvement of influential people in such investigation cases turned lax.

Minister Gurung has expressed his dissatisfaction with the investigation process. He said, ‘When the investigation into corruption and gold smuggling among others begins, the names of influential people are attached which impedes the investigation in the process.’ He said that such a tendency should be ended and the culprits should be brought to justice.

Likewise, on a different note, the Minister said that the Prime Minister could consider reshuffling the Cabinet in the consensus of the coalition partners.

‘The reshuffling could also be considered through evaluation of the ministers’ performance and at the approval of the party, ‘ He said, ‘Those who could work in tandem and the spirit of the PM could be accommodated in his cabinet. Those who can’t deliver well could be sent off.’
