Karnali government sets 7 years strategic action plan

Kathmandu: The Karnali provincial government has implemented the seven-year strategic action plan relating to health rehabilitation.
The strategic plan prepared to conduct various works relating to disability reduction and rehabilitation. Where the situation of the loss of life and being disabled in emergencies would end.
For this plan, a system will be developed along with an emergency and medical treatment where an injured would be taken to a health facility from the incident site. In am effective coordination with the federal government and local level research based measures would be adopted to prevent from hereditary blood-borne disease like sickle cell anemia, thalassemia and hemophilia .
The event of health rehabilitation was organized by the National Federation of the Disabled, Nepal, Karnali Province, Birendranaga on Monday.
The Ministry of Social Development, an officer at the Health Services Division, Amrita Gyawali said that the health rehabilitation service would be integrated into the health plan and budget.
The action plan coordinating with the local level, has included activities of establishing and operating a rehabilitation unit and gradually upgrading the local level health institution to the disabled friendly structures.
Birendra Pokharel, former President of the Federation, said, ‘8 percent of disabled people across the country are struggling with poverty and suggest the government to create various job programs for them.’ But, He also urged to conduct program for the disabled as per government’s policies.
Similarly, Minister for Social Development Khadka Bahadur Pokharel pledged that the provincial government would take initiatives to make a separate policy for the disabled soon. It has been informed that government in current fiscal year, 2023/24, had allocated over Rs. 10 million for disability people.
