Jumla: The Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA) has decided to expand the National Transmission Line in 5 districts of upper Karnali including Jumla.
NEA began the preparation to expand the transmission line of 132 KV in Dailekh-Kalikot-Jumla and the construction of 132 KV substations in Jumla and its peripheral districts as per the proposal in the District Administration Office, Jumla.
NEA Executive Director Khulman Ghising said that the National Transmission line was expanded in Jumla. ‘It is very important to provide regular electricity service’, said Director Ghising, ‘The authority has been putting efforts continuously to expand the 132 KV transmission line in Jumla. Consumers will able to consume electricity with no stress in the upcoming days.’
Ghising said that the 132 KV transmission line in Surkhet- Dailekh was currently under construction. He explained the importance of constructing a transmission line and the substation in Jumla.
Jumla’s Federal MP Gyan Bahadur Shahi said that the expansion of the transmission line in Jumla must be taken as a serious attempt. He said that the electricity facility had not reached all the parts of the district.
MP Shahi said NEA‘s attention was drawn to expand the 132 KV transmission line till Jumla and even requested private sectors and various organization to invest in Karnali’s energy sector.
Jumla’s Head of Coordination Committee Gauri Nanda Archarya complained that NEA was not able to provide the so called electricity service continuously.
Jumla’s Chandnath Municipality Mayor Raju Singh Kathayat said that the national transmission line had not expanded to rural areas of all the 8 local levels in Jumla.
Representatives of Alternative Energy Promotion Centre and Asian Development Bank held a discussion with the team of central office of NEA regarding investment and its possibility in Jumla .
