Russia has launched a new wave of drone attack across Ukraine on Wednesday, including capital Kyiv.

The latest wave of drone attack come as both sides escalated drone war targeting infrastructure. The overnight attack hit a building in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian officials said.

Ukraine’s air force Command said its forces destroyed 21 of the 26 Iranian-made Shahed drones launched by Russia, while Kyiv officials said air defence systems eliminated those sent over the city, with no initial reports of casualties or destruction.

Similarly, the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that three people have lost their lives, and a further five were injured as a result of a Russian missile strike on a supermarket in the city of Kherson. The injured include employees and shoppers.

An image circulating on social media, and geo-located by CNN, show the destruction of the building with a dead body lying in the foreground.

Meanwhile, Russian state media reported a drone strike at an oil facility in southwestern Russia. A fuel depot caught fire overnight in the Russian village of Volna, close to the bridge which connects the country to the Crimean Peninsula.

Russian state news agency Tass has reported that the fire was caused by ‘the fall of a drone’.

The incident occurred just as news emerged of a freight train being derailed by an explosion on the tracks in Bryansk, a region in Russia which borders Ukraine and Belarus. It is the second train to be derailed by an explosive device since Monday.
