United Nations Secretary-General Guterres: We will lend a helping hand to fight against Climate Change

Kathmandu: United Nations Secretary-General Guterres has expressed his commitment to lend a helping hand to fight against Climate change, which has affected the Everest region.

Secretary-General Guterres observed the Everest region in Solukhumbu’s Khumjung. He reached Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Village Municipality- 4 on the Nepal Army’s helicopter.

UN General Guterres said that the United Nations was ready to help out in minimizing the effect of climate change in the Himalayan region. Guterres has expressed his sadness over developing countries facing problems due to the activities of developed countries in conversations with Khumjung’s local leaders. He spent 2 hours of conversation with Khumjung’s local leader.

Tourism businesspeople and public representatives expressed their concern to UN General Guterres about the snow melting of the Himalayan region and the Mountains turning into Blackstone which is risky to settlers of the Himalayan region.

He said that the developed countries were causing environmental pollution but its effect was visible in small countries like Nepal.
