Bharati begins hunger strike against amnesty given to her husband’s murderer

Kathmandu: Bharati Manandhar has begun a hunger strike against the amnesty given to her husband’s murderer.

Bharati began her hunger strike against the amnesty on Wednesday. She had placed the condition of not returning home unless she gained justice.

Yograj Dhakal (Regal) was accused of being involved in the murder of Bharati’s husband Chetan Manandhar with a Khunda. Regal was sentenced to life imprisonment. But, he was given amnesty on Constitution Day.

Bharati, while speaking with the media, ‘I will continue my struggle until I get justice. I am ready to die but won’t return unless I get justice.’

She demanded that the murderer of her husband, Regal must be jailed again. Based on involvement, the other 10 persons had been sentenced to imprisonment between 3- 10 years.

A writ petition has been filed against the President’s decision to give amnesty to Regal in the Supreme Court.
