3 prisoners receive amnesty in Tikapur incident

Dhangadhi: Three prisoners, from the Kailali jail, have received amnesty from the president on the occasion of Constitution Day.

The three prisoners were to receive amnesty from President Ram Chandra Poudel. The amnesty has been given as per the Criminal Offenses (Sentencing and Execution) Act 2074.

According to Kailali prison head, Padamraj Timilsina, Bir Bahadur Chaudhary (from Tikapur Municipality Ward No. 4), Harinarayan Chaudhary (Janaki Rural Municipality 7, Motipur) and Pradeep Chaudhary (Janaki-7) received amnesty.

All three prisoners have been jailed for 8 years. All three were welcomed on a grand scale. Nagarik Unmukti Chairperson and  Minister of Land Management Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Ranjita Shrestha, Member of Parliament Gangaram Chaudhary, federal ministers and MPs welcomed them.

Nagarik Unmukti Party’s Patron Resham Chaudhary thanked the government for releasing the three prisoners. He has also requested other 30 prisoners facing jail sentences in the same case.

Likewise, Shrawan Chaudhary (Janaki Rural Municipality-7, Latkaniya) convicted in the same case is also in the process of being freed. Shrawan is in the Juvenile Reformatory in Pokhara. He would be taken to Kathmandu and Dhangadhi today.
